This blog is about the restoration of a 1963 Fletcher Cates Moth boat. The boat was made in Haddenfield NJ. By Blair Fletcher. Blair Owed Fletcher Marine and made many boats for the Moth fleets of Southern NJ. I sailed against these boats with a Cates design by Carl Patterson. I built my Cates at Pattersons' shop around the same time this boat was under construction. This picture was taken September 1965. It's me in my Patterson Cates.

This is the original mast partner.
This is the new partner
I haven't had too much time to work on the boat. I'm retired and there are too many honydos on the plate. However, I did get to make a new deck king beam and mast partner. The pix is of the original wood which is rotted. I also took the deck king beam off too, That's also the fwd structure for the centerboard trunk. The original builder had that member attached with two SS bolts. I'm sure that was a source of leaks in this boat. as both bolts were below the water line when sailing.
